small formats.!
17.10.2013 – 31.8.2014
The small format stood at the origin of all art from Gugging. Originally used in test drawings, the miniature form soon took on a life of its own: the expression of total concentration. On just 10.5 x 14.8 cm, nothing can be concealed, nothing masked, but one is forced to create, quite deliberately, a work that reveals all. Stroke, coloring, every structure must be precise to accomplish a sheet of significance. Approximately 300 works by more than twenty arts conveyed visitors into this realm of the often humorous small format–into a land of the smile, governed by the Gugging Artists.
The little book small formats, in the original size of a postcard and 432 pages thick, accompanied the exhibition. It was unfortunately sold out in minimal time.
This exquisite artists’ book brings together around 300 works by the Gugging Artists from the last five decades.
