The presentation innocy’s house represented the first juxtaposition of Art Brut with contemporary art, in this case from Japan, in a collaboration with Galerie Krinzinger, Vienna. For his exhibitions, Japanese artist Shintaro Miyake makes costumes that allow him to slip into ever new characters.  His pool of roles has now grown to more than 20. One of them is “Innocy”. The name is derived from the “innocence”; and the fur of the innocent monster is white.

“Innocy” lives in a little, colorfully painted house, which is strongly reminiscent of the “House of Artists”. This is no coincidence: Shintaro Miyake got to know the works of the Gugging Artists in Japan and was spellbound right away. He felt the art Gugging residents to be liberation that opened up a new design vocabulary to him. In 2004, Miyake came to Austria for an exhibition at Galerie Krinzinger.  Miyake’s alter ego “Innocy” visited the “House of Artists” in Gugging and took the opportunity to draw together with his idols.

From November 8, 2007 through May 5, 2008, museum gugging presented innocy’s house, an installation that had arisen during “Innocy’s” stay in Austria in 2004. “Innocy’s” exhibited costume recalled the goings-on in Gugging, while photographs documented his many excursions.

“Innocy” was present at museum gugging on the evening of the opening on November 9, 2007.
