The postcard project sunray millionaire by German artist Ingolf Ebeling (*1964), a fascinating, almost endless work in progress, was presented to the public for the first time at museum gugging. Following an exact mathematical thought structure, the artists drew rays of sun numbering from one to a maximum of 30 on single postcards—right up until all the rays, together, added up to precisely one million. Ingolf Ebeling began to paint as a self-taught artist in 1991. The artist was a regular “artist in residence” at atelier gugging from 2002. Ingolf Ebeling:

“Each sun has at least one ray, and thirty rays at the maximum. Each sun is unique in its ray combination and occurs on only one of the cards. Following a mathematical formula, calculations are performed of all possible dispersions of the one to thirty rays to the sun’s four edges. The ray combinations are depicted on the cards right up until the addition of all rays yields precisely 1 000 000 rays. A total of more than 42,000 cards accrued.”
