guggkasten.! tex rubinowitz: stickstoff
A dynamic element of the anniversary exhibition is the guggkasten, a dedicated exhibition space in the museum gugging, which is alternately devoted to individual artists or thematic focuses and expands the program with new perspectives.
The opening is marked by Tex Rubinowitz’s exhibition ‘Stickstoff’, in which he understands machine sewing as a creative process. In this series of works, he uses discarded textiles that he embroiders with sentences and words—and in doing so, through the element of chance that guides his direction, he achieves a sense of losing control while maintaining the highest productivity.
Rubinowitz’s Stickstoff is made up of discarded textiles. He meticulously sews them together and embroiders them with sentences, sayings and disjointed words. He does this with an antique Pfaff sewing machine, which he says drives him on and guides him almost all on its own.
