This exhibition presented works created in Gugging by several artists who tackle the topic of the portrait or, like Rudolf Horacek, have devoted themselves to it. He was the master of “analytic portraits”; his faces appear dissected and intertwined with writing, often obliterated altogether. Alongside him there were works by artists such as Oswald Tschirtner, Fritz Koller, Johann Hauser, August Walla, Johann Garber, but also by lesser known protagonists such as Johann Binner, Karoline Rosskopf and Anton Dobay.
