The oeuvre of Gugging Artist Johann Korec (1937-2008) is characterized by his immense pictorial and “penmanship” talent. Clear contours are combined with colors and reworked many times. Text, which is of great importance to the artist and takes up big parts of his works, remains visible at all times. Writing and text are meaningful to Korec—he wanted to communicate something to the onlooker in every picture, from erotic fantasies and experiences to his love of the circus and animals. Small-format works on paper from the artist’s early days from the 1970s were exhibited in the Novomatic Salon. The presented 68 works were accompanied by a catalog.
