adria.! sartore
21.3. – 6.10.2013
In parallel to the gugging classics 6.! and the photographic works of Mathias Braschler and Monika Fischer, museum gugging presented, in the Novomatic Salon, the Genoese painter Adria Sartore: her pictures of girls complemented the year’s theme, “faces”.
Italian artist Adria Sartore paints young girls—in the style of Old Masters. Her particular focus lies on their facial expressions. She captures various expressions of mood, as underlined by the girls’ body language. Adria Sartore portrays the face as the mirror of the soul and as the mirror of our fantasies. Her pictures leave plenty of room for interpretation and are striking expressive, consistently defying current trends in contemporary art.
Adria Sartore, born in Genoa in 1969, studied philosophy and aesthetics in Genoa as well as at the Brera Art Academy in Milan. She has won numerous distinctions, and solo exhibitions have been dedicated to her.
The presented 43 works were accompanied by a catalog.
