gugging artists programme: Get to Know Gugging

Guided Tour
Dive into the world of art from Gugging! To start, students learn about the exciting history of the world-famous Gugging Artists – about the early days, the development of the House of Artists and the gallery, up to the opening of the museum in 2006. Then we will discover the artworks by the Gugging Artists on a tour with various stops through the museum and gallery gugging. With a sharpened eye for details, we will work out the distinctive qualities and personal styles in the works by the artists.

Workshop
We begin with a tour through the current exhibition and visit some points outside the museum like villa gugging, the tiled wall designed by August Walla, and walk around the House of Artists decorated by the Gugging Artists. Inspired by the artists’ creative works, we invite the students to try out their own artistic skills and creativity in the art laboratory.

Guided Tour
I can do that too… or understanding contemporary art.
In order to understand contemporary art sometimes just little hints or mere courage and curiosity will suffice. Questions are always allowed and encouraged. The students explore the exhibition on their own, and then we discuss the experience as a group and (perhaps) see the artworks with new eyes.

Workshop
Armed with a pen and brush, we will make small, detailed drawings like Johann Garber.

brain feeling.! art from gugging : Hauser, Tschirtner & Walla

Guided Tour
During the introduction in front of the House of Artists the students learn about the exciting history of the Gugging Artists – about the early days, the development of the House of Artists and the gallery, up to the opening of the museum in 2006. In the following tour through the artworks in the museum there is a special focus on the personal styles of Johann Hauser, Oswald Tschirtner, and August Walla. Different groups of participants investigate the works of the artists with handouts to help with their analysis.

Workshop
On the walls of the art laboratory there are big rolls of paper which the students can use to experiment with the inspiration they gained from the large-scale works by the Gugging Artists and the colourful façade of the House of Artists.
