Philipp Schöpke sketched out his world of figures – humans and animals – with scrawly lines. The “x-ray view” of the genius illustrator even penetrates into the innards of the portraited: hearts, oesophaguses and windpipes, stomachs and intestines are free to see. Overdimensional rows of teeth anchor the transparent bodies onto the image surface.
