Affiliated with the Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Heidelberg, the Prinzhorn Collection comprises approximately 6000 artworks, which reflect psychic borderline experiences. They originate in the time between 1840 and 1945 and were compiled for the large part by the psychiatrist and art historian Hans Prinzhorn. He was constantly in search for “expressions of an own experience” and thus collected with a focus on art that is “modern in the mind”.
