How to get here

Maria Gugging is part of the municipality of Klosterneuburg. It is located in the Vienna Woods, approximately 19 km (12 miles) northwest of Vienna, Austria and in the immediate vicinity of the Institute of Science and Technology - IST Austria.

The municipality of Klosterneuburg is currently carrying out the construction of new sewers, water pipes and roads until November 2021. For the time of the renovation, traffic delays are expected.

By Bus / Train:
From Vienna: Take the U4 subway to the end station “Heiligenstadt”. Transfer to Bus 400 direction “Maria Gugging/Lourdesgrotte” and travel to the stop “Maria Gugging / IST Austria” and follow the signs.

TIP: The IST Austria Shuttle travels from Heiligenstadt to Maria Gugging during the week within 20 minutes. Tickets: 2.40 EUR

Family Tickets

museum gugging supports families. Family tickets, for two adults and two children under 18 years of age, can be obtained for the price of 18 EUR.

 

Parking

Follow the driveway along the left-hand side of the museum and you will find parking places at the backside of the building.

By car:

Museums Shop

The Museum Shop offers a rich variety of items: from extravagant ceramics and textiles to jewellery by young Austrian designers.

Our selection of books on Art Brut is a special highlight: You will find a range of recent publications about Art Brut as well as illustrated volumes, rare first editions, and antiquarian books. There are also catalogues and other literature related to the current exhibitions. Furthermore, there is a fine selection of playfully designed children’s books.

Come and visit us! You can also shop here on Sundays and holidays and without a museum entrance ticket.

Seating Areas

In the exhibition spaces there are a number of seating elements – some of which have been designed by the Artists of Gugging.

 

Bags, Food & Drinks

All bags larger than DIN A4 cannot be taken into the exhibition spaces due to safety reasons. Backpacks are also forbidden. It is not permitted to consume food and drinks in the museum, only in the lounge area. Your personal possessions can be stowed in our cloakroom and the lockers.

WiFi

Guests are welcome to use our WiFi connection free of charge. A password is not required.
